L'ingresso all'interno della Cisterna, che nel 2002 non fu ostruito dal Consiglio Parrocchiale di Evoramonte, ha una piccola porta con le spalle diritte e gli architravi, tutti in granito, attraverso i quali gli abitanti potevano prendere l'acqua. [...]
Il monumento è forse un lavoro post-terremoto del 1531, probabilmente costruito per prevenire un declino demografico in questa zona, come è noto che fino a quella data non c'era alcuna fonte di acqua potabile all'interno delle mura, quindi serviva come incentivo alla permanenza e crescita della popolazione nella parrocchia.

La cisterna pubblica di Evoramonte si trova vicino al muro, nella zona ovest della fortezza, nella strada che segue in seguito alla Misericordia. Se non fossimo i due ugelli cilindrici che sporgono dal resto del terreno, difficilmente ce l'avremmo se venissimo da Porta do Freixo, dato che la cisterna è sotterranea. [...]
