Known as São Pedro de Fora, the first reference to its existence, according to Túlio Espanca, dates from 1320. Another well-known reference is from 1342, at which time the prelate of Évora, D. Martinho, creates two Portionary posts for Evoramonte.
At the time of the earthquake of 1531, this temple is very affected, having undergone great restoration in century XVI and reopening the doors to the cult soon in 1534.
The roof is recovered in 1929 and in 1959, much to the taste of the time, removing the plaster of the arches of the ships and the presbytery to put the stonework of granite visible.

The church, with a rectangular plan and three naves, has a 16th-century façade. Of note in the facade is an interesting Sign of Solomon in marble. The interior still presents ogival arcaria in the ships and the presbytery.
In the cemetery adjacent to the church, which already existed also in the early church, several low-medieval steles have been found, many of them exposed in the Municipal Museum Prof. Red Joaquim.
