It is one of the most important tapirs of Portugal, having its enclosure and chamber 4.30 meters in diameter, 3.30 meters in height and a chapel with the volume of 3 X 2,60 meters.
The tapir was erected between the 4th and 3rd millennium BC and was transformed into a chapel dedicated to St. Dinis or St. Dionysius in the 17th century. The transformation of the place into a Christian monument will have received influences from the Anta-Capela de São Brissos in the municipality of Montemor-o-Novo.
It was the object of archaeological excavations at the beginning of the 20th century, carried out by Virgílio Correia.
The Anta de Pavia, transformed into the Chapel of St. Dinis, is a Portuguese national monument located in the village of Pavia, in Mora, in the Évora district.
It has been classified as a National Monument by the IPPAR since 1910
