L’activité principale de ce village reste la pêche et ses dérivés, avec le tourisme actuel, en raison de la plage, de la proximité de l’île d’Armona-Fuzeta et du camping qui accueille des centaines de visiteurs en été.
Terre de pêcheurs, il conserve encore bon nombre de ses maisons cubiques, surmontées de terrasses - les toits - d'où émergent les curieuses cheminées en ballon, caractéristiques de cette région de l'Algarve.
