The UFMG Museum of Natural History and Botanical Garden is located in a preservation area in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte. Shelter for hundreds of species of Brazilian fauna and flora, the visitor also finds a rich collection of our scientific and cultural history. Highlight for the Pipiripau Crib and the collections of paleontology, archeology, mineralogy and the Science Space with interactive experiments.
The main objectives of the Museum are linked to academic purposes, that is, to carry out basic and applied research, to develop undergraduate and graduate teaching projects and to strengthen ties between the University and society through Extension activities. We add to these objectives, carry out technical and museographic activities to preserve, use and disseminate the natural, scientific and cultural collection; disseminate and popularize science; promote and participate in the movement for the sustainable development of nature; maintain and preserve the natural and cultural heritage.
