Here is the Bust of the Foundress.
Initially - at the end of the 1950s - it had settled in the roundabout on the highway in front of the San Mateo neighborhood, but for security reasons it moved to the place where it is today. The nose that had been smashed with a pebble was repaired by the Italian sculptor Michele Picca, advised by the Academia de Historia de Norte de Santander.
Located on one side of the Santander diagonal, in front of the La Merced neighborhood.
This work was carved in Italy by the famous sculptor Pietro Canónica, author of a large number of busts of pontiffs that decorate the Vatican. It was donated by the Italian gentleman Gaetano Severini, who lived in the city for several years and was linked to commerce, enjoying wide esteem.
