Part of the recent history of the Baixada Santista and the country can be known at the Roldão Mendes Rosa Hemeroteca Municipal, which has 90,000 copies of newspapers and magazines. In the last 21 years, about 220 thousand people have consulted the collection.

In the Hemeroteca it is possible to find rarities such as the newspapers' Revista Comercial '(1850 to 1867),' O Diário de Santos' and 'Cidade de Santos' (1870 to 1880),' A Tribuna '(since 1913), besides the own' Official Gazette of Santos'. Also available to the public are collections of the 'Cruzeiro', 'Manchete' and 'Realidade' magazines, all out of circulation.

“Here, we use the method of writing in major newspapers, including making folders with almost 200,000 clippings, organized by theme,” explains Roseane Arrocho, a Hemeroteca employee since its opening in 1991.

History teacher André Luiz Meirelles, 31 years old, from São Vicente, whenever he can go to the site looking for material for school work. "If it wasn't for this space, it would be lost."
