The Discovery Memorial is located on the beach of Outeiro da Glória, just one kilometer from the center of Porto Seguro. Inaugurated in 2003, its objective is to preserve the memory of the discoverers of Brazil.

Anyone who wants to take a trip back in time and rediscover Brazil, put aside the hype of Porto Seguro's beaches and visit the Memorial do Descobrimento. The space houses an area of twenty thousand square meters, but the memorial itself has 600 square meters of built area. In the Memorial building there is a didactic exhibition about the 106 year cycle of the great Portuguese navigations (Brazil, Africa and the Indies).

After visiting the memorial, stroll through the huge botanical garden, with its typical sandbank vegetation. The curiosity is that they are examples of species that Cabral found when he arrived in Brazil.

Alameda do Desenvolvimento will take you to the replica of the Nau Capitânia de Cabral along a trail through trees and birdsong. The ship similar to the vessel that brought Pedro Álvares Cabral to Brazil is impressive. It is no less than 30 meters long, 8 meters wide and 7 meters high.
