The old Cruz Alta, which was 27 meters high, was erected to mark the closing of the Holy Year of 1950/1951 and was located at the bottom of the prayer room, where today stands the Church of the Holy Trinity. It was offered to the Shrine of Christ the King in Almada.
The current High Cross, erected on August 29, 2007, is authored by the artist Robert Schad, being 34 meters high.
Located in Fátima Sanctuary, located in Cova da Iria, parish of Fatima (Portugal), it is one of the most important Marian shrines in the World.
