In the late 1960s, L. Ron Hubbard traveled from his home at Saint Hill Manor for an extended stay in Johannesburg, South Africa. Among other historical landmarks of his stay in South Africa: He was the author of a “ one man, one vote "for South Africa handcuffed by apartheid. He also presented a charter of rights and a penal code to ensure equality and justice.
Also as important statements made from the top of Linksfield Ridge, he developed introductory routes for Scientology organizations and established new types of organizations - City Centers and Offices - to accommodate emerging Scientology groups.
His completely restored homes contain exhibitors that tell the story of Mr. Hubbard's visit to South African prisons and the programs he initiated to rehabilitate criminals, the lectures he gave to South African Scientologists and his pioneering work in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe).
Government officials and dignitaries also meet here to plan educational programs for citizens of South Africa, using the social improvement technologies developed by Mr. Hubbard.
Today Scientologists enter the same living room in which Mr. Hubbard received officers and dignitaries. You can also see the cabinet and the secretary where he wrote the constitution on behalf of all South Africans and the Scientology texts on behalf of all mankind.
