This is a rural temple, there being no certainty of its date of construction, but it is thought that it may have very ancient origins, in a previous Marian temple, with a tradition of agrarian and livestock protection.
It is known, however, that in 1448 here the Paulist friars were established, until 1606 when they moved to the Convent of Our Lady of Ajuda in Tavira.
The Chapel of Our Lady of Health is located about 4km from Tavira, near the place of Senhora da Saúde, in the middle of the Algarve region.
Annually, in May, the old tradition of devotion to the Virgin Mary is resumed, in her invocation of Our Lady of Health, organizing a pilgrimage to the Hermitage, bringing together many faithful and visitors.
