Corvo Island
Corvo Island is located 27.8 km (15 nautical miles) from the island of Flores. The two islands form the Western Group of the Azores archipelago. Of volcanic origin, Corvo is the smaller of the nine islands, with an area of only 17.1 km2 and a population of approximately 500 inhabitants.
Vila Nova do Corvo is the smallest municipality in the archipelago and the only village on the island. The inhabited area of the island consists essentially of a main street and several very narrow and somber crossways, sometimes less than 1 meter wide, the canadas and Canadinhas - an imbricate of irregular alleys, of rough paving based on rolled pebbles and which constitute a picturesque and unusual complex in the context of the archipelago.
The village developed from the small harbor of the Port of the House, where a dock was built in the 60's, the main thing of civic life being concentrated in a pleasant and accessible square, situated in the middle of the village, while the church, faces the sea and seems to symbolically protect the island from the dangers that may come from the Atlantic.
Two traditional houses were carefully restored to house a modern cultural and environmental interpretive center on the island, which was installed in 2007, containing museum space and gallery for temporary exhibitions.
The various volcanic cones, with legends that try to make sense of the unknown, the houses unusually close to each other and facing the sea, looking for the neighbors' coziness and the comforting presence of the island of Flores, the vastness of the horizon, simple life and calmness of a small community make the charms of the Crow - a tiny drop in the vastness of the Atlantic.

Tourism
The Caldeirão - located in Monte Grosso, in the crater of the volcano that gave origin to the island. At the bottom of the crater are two lakes, from which small islets emerge, mirroring in their whole the archipelagic whole to which the Raven belongs;
Windmills - Sturdy structures, built of black stone, have an ingenious mechanism inside, which rotates the dome so that their triangular sails are constantly oriented to the wind. The Corvo windmills are different from those of the other islands, being more similar to those left by the Arabs in the Portuguese mainland.
The various belvederes that provide scenarios of great beauty and where human presence is scarce.

Weather
Like the other islands in the archipelago, the climate in Corvo is temperate and influenced by the Gulf Stream. The Azores anticyclone functions as a moderating force on the island, maintaining temperatures between 14ºC (57ºF) and 27ºC (80ºF) throughout the year. The location of the Corvo makes the island subject to Atlantic storms, and precipitation and humidity tend to be high during the winter.
Gastronomy
Typical Corvo dishes include "Calhau Herb", Liver Sauce, French Sprouts and "Barca" Cabbages. The local cheese, accompanied with cornbread, is a real delight.
