Margarida Island is an island in Venezuela located in the Caribbean Sea, northeast of Caracas, the capital of the country. You can reach the island in a 35-minute flight or by ferry that can take 2 hours (express) or 5 hours (conventional), leaving from Puerto la Cruz or Cumaná. The capital is the city of La Asunción, located in the valley of the same name.

One of Venezuela's top tourist destinations, known for its natural beauty. One of Margarita's most sought after attractions is the visit to the Laguna de La Restinga National Park. Most people live or stay in the eastern peninsula, where the cities of Pampatar, Porlamar and La Asunción are located.
