Tourism
The small village of Sagres is surrounded by wonderful and often deserted beaches, although the sea here is colder and more dangerous than on the south Algarve coast. Such is the case of the beaches of Telheiro, Ponta Ruiva, Beliche, Tonel (great for surfers) and Martinhal, where there is a water sports school for water skiing, surfing and windsurfing. The beaches in the area, such as those of Castelejo, Barriga and Cordama, have not been spoiled by tourism and feature all fine sand and rocks at the bottom of steep cliffs.
The Fortress of Sagres, which still maintains its proud haughtiness, was ordered to be built by the infant Dom Henrique, with defensive intent. Its origin goes back to the fifteenth century, although it has undergone several changes since that time. In its interior, and probably of the same century, a gigantic rose of the winds, with more than 40 meters of diameter, is drawn with stones in the ground.

Gastronomy
The gastronomy in Sagres is similar to the rest of the Algarve. It is based on fresh fish, seafood and also some confection of meats. The fish is very varied and we can highlight the sargo, monkfish, swordfish, sole, red mullet, sea bream, hake, gilt, ferreira, rooster fish, horse mackerel, sardines, among others. In addition to the fish, there are some marine invertebrates such as octopus, squid and cuttlefish, which are of great importance in the feeding of this area. The most consumed seafood is shrimp, crab, santola, oysters, mussels and perceives, which are eaten cooked with enough salt, or baked on the plate, if they are bivalves. As regards meat, it is possible to refer to pork, rabbit and hare, which constitute a kinergic resource in this area. Regional sweets are based on almond, fig, gila and eggs, so the characteristic beverages are arbutus brandy and fig brandy.
Weather
The climate is temperate and moderate and, being a cable in the sea, it is expected that the temperature is controlled by the same.
