Sète
Sète known as Cette until 1928, is a commune in the department of Hérault in the region of Languedoc-Roussillon, in the south of France.
Known as the Venice of the Languedoc and the singular island (in the words of Paul Valéry), it is a port and seaside resort in the Mediterranean with its own very strong cultural identity, traditions, cuisine and dialect. It is also the hometown of artists such as Paul Valéry, Jean Vilar, Georges Brassens, Gregorio Del Piero, Hervé Di Rosa, Silver Handyman, and Robert Combas.
Tourism
The town of Sète is a real jewel on the south coast of France. Sète and has become one of the fastest growing cities in the hottest zones in the south of France.
Seven grew rapidly during the seventeenth century due to its links with the Canal du Midi and the Rhone Canal. The town of Sète wraps itself around the rocky promontory Mont St. Clair. The old district of Sète crosses the Canal Real, ideal for those who want to spend most of their time in Sete, walking along the canals and in the old quarter where there are many seafood restaurants and terraces.
On the other side of the city are also some excellent beaches, including a long stretch of golden sand beaches.
Two other attractions are the two museums Georges Brassens and Paul Valery.
For a fan of water sports, this is an ideal destination. There is practically no water activity, from sailing to swimming and even diving, which is not possible here. Sète also organizes Jousting water tournaments, like its neighbors in Montpellier.
Gastronomy
Much inspired by the Neapolitan origins of the inhabitants of Sète and the products of the sea and the lagoons, the cuisine of Sète is appealing: the monkfish bourride, the bouillabaisse, the mussels and the cuttlefish, the pasta, the tielle, the rouille of octopus , etc. So many gastronomic choices to savor in one of 80 restaurants in Sète.
Weather
Sete is situated in the department of Hérault and the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Located along the Mediterranean Sea, the city borders the lagoon of Thau.

Its Mediterranean landscape guarantees you a pleasant all year round sunshine. A wide variety of activities, markets of all kinds, walks around the coast, recreation for all ages as one of its greatest assets.
