A sede da câmara municipal de Vassouras é uma construção grandiosa que foi iniciada em 1849 e inaugurada em 29 de Junho de 1872, com esplendoroso baile.
Possui quatro majestosas colunas de pedra que tiveram como padrinhos : o Barão de Vassouras, o Barão de Ribeirão, o Barão de Massambará e o. Manuel Simões de Souza Pinto. As colunas foram abençoadas pelo Padre Joaquim Lage em 6 de Janeiro de 1872.
