O que se lê nos livros sobre a exploração do ouro no Estado de Minas Gerais pode ser visto na Mina da Passagem. Visitá-la é como viajar pela história, vivenciando a saga e a sina perigosa dos homens que procuravam por ouro no interior das montanhas mineiras. Só desta mina foram retiradas aproximadamente 35 toneladas do precioso metal, desde o início de suas atividades, na primeira metade do século XIX, até 1984. Possui amplos salões, 30 quilômetros de túneis e lagos subterrâneos de águas cristalinas, onde é praticado o mergulho em caverna.
