The newly built 77-km Explorers Way, a fantastic scenic road leading from the city to Explorers Bay, has opened up many possibilities in the region. This windy road full of glaciers, rivers and lakes is absolutely stunning and is the gateway to visit the mighty Explorers Glacier where incredible ice rides are possible.
Due to this road, Puerto Río Tranquilo has become the new hub for visiting the San Rafael National Park of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and its famous San Rafael Lagoon and Glacier. The combination of driving the Path of Explorers, admiring the spectacular scenery, sailing from the end of the road to Laguna San Rafael, gazing at this sweeping glacier and experiencing the thunderous noise and tsunami-like waves when the ice falls makes it all a very enjoyable experience. Special.

Security
Due to factors such as altitude, terrain typology and lack of mobile network coverage, the risk associated with mountaineering or a mountain excursion is higher. Travelers are advised to engage in such activities, to contact the nearest police station (carabineros) from the tour site and to present a map of the route they will take on the mountain.
