Ilhéu das Rolas is a small island in the São Tomé and Príncipe archipelago situated in the Gulf of Guinea, south of São Tomé Island. It is of volcanic origin and is located exactly under the Equator.
The main (and almost unique) economic activity is tourism, after the construction of a luxury resort. A permanent population of about 200 inhabitants has its survival directly linked to the tourist activity. It is only accessed by boat, from Porto Alegre, on the island of São Tomé.
